Preventative Care

Preventative Care

Preventative dentistry is one of the most important things you can do for yourself and your smile! Through regular dental checkups and creating a daily dental hygiene routine like regular brushing and flossing you can maintain the healthy oral care your teeth need. Starting regular preventative care at an early age is key!

Caitlin Jones, DMD specializes in several preventative dental care services such as, regular dental cleanings for children and adults, comprehensive exams, oral hygiene treatments, dental sealants, custom mouthguards and nightguards, oral cancer screenings, digital X-rays and Panorex.

Dental Cleanings & Comprehensive Exams

Regular dental cleanings (Prophylaxis) and checkups are extremely important to maintain oral health for both adults and children. During your six-month exam, our caring dentist will assess the health of your teeth and gums, provide a thorough cleaning, an oral cancer screening, and address any concerns you may have. This in-depth assessment allows us to check your smile’s overall foundation and to uncover any issues before they become big problems.

Oral Hygiene

Caitlin S. Jones, DMD provides a number of preventative procedures that can help protect you from decay, fractures, and other dental related issues that can be very costly to you. Preventative dentistry can be as simple as sticking with your cleanings, exams, and x-rays. We will teach you the best oral hygiene routine to maintain at home for the healthiest smile.

Dental Sealants

As a preventative measure, dental sealants are painted onto the chewing surface of your teeth to deflect the debris and reduce the risk of cavities. Sealants are a thin plastic coating that help fill in the pits and grooves where build up is likely to occur. This can help make brushing more effective for children and adults.

Custom Mouthguards

Do you have children that play sports? If so, then you probably want to protect their smile! Caitlin Jones, DMD makes custom mouthguards for athletes that protect teeth and allow for optimal breathing ability during sports performance.

Custom Night Guards

Similar to a mouthguard, a night guard is worn during sleep to stop damage caused by grinding and gnashing of teeth. Conditions like TMJ and general teeth grinding often cause headaches and jaw pain. A simple night guard can help relieve these symptoms and protect teeth from cracking.

Digital X-rays & Panorex

This radiographic image helps the dentist to view the teeth very up close and to help diagnose decay. The panorex provides a full view of the upper and lower jaw, sinuses, and teeth providing a better view than the average X-ray.
